My wife said this is the best burger she’s had in her life. I second that. Best burger in the Sac town, way more delicious than In-and-Out. Highly recommended!

Was in the area for work and saw that Skips had an almost 5* rating with almost 2k reviews, so I had to check it out. Got the western burger with cross cut fries. Burger was cooked to PERFECT medium, fries were hot and crispy, bbq sauce on the burger was sweet, tangy and Smokey! Customer service was great! The check out staff was friendly, the owner himself was out talking to customers, clearing tables, delivering orders and refilling drinks. Facilities were very clean! I will note that it felt like the heater was on in the bathroom. That aside, this place needs to have 6/5 stars!

Great burger/sandwich joint with delicious food, a nice patio area, friendly service, and a chance (however small) to get your meal for free! I had the mushroom swiss burger and my girlfriend got the sliders, both were great. They have a few beers on tap, as well as several other drink options. When you order, the employee spread a deck of cards and told us to pick one, if you get the joker you get to eat for free! For me, that adds an extra element to an already great restaurant that puts it over the top. If I lived in Sac, it would be one of my favorites.

The food is quite amazing. But I'm only giving three due to the presentation of a gluten-free burger. As someone with celiac disease, I am grateful for the options that many restaurants give us. And Skips has several. The blended veggie soup is great. And I really enjoyed the grilled romaine salad. But that burger. What a mess. Literally. The "lettuce wrap" consisted of a full romaine leaf on the bottom and another on the top. Both lying like light green surfboards, stiff and unmoving. And so the damn thing fell apart at the first bite. Imploded might be a better descriptor. It was then I discovered the layer of shredded lettuce in the middle of a LETTUCE WRAP!!! It's superfluous. It's already has lettuce surfboards instead of a bready bun. I heavily suggest that the owners go to Five Guys, Carl's Junior, and In-n-Out to see what a lettuce wrap burger that works looks like. And don't feel too bad. I ripped Five Guys just as badly about poor presentation years ago. They improved, so can you. I'll be back. But I'm avoiding the burgers and sandwiches.

The young people who work here are always friendly and polite and provide good service. Skip is a great host. Food is consistent and good. I had previously only ordered burgers and sandwiches but recently ordered the sweet corn and broccoli and was pleasantly surprised with both, will add to my burger order from now on:) And my wife got the Asian Salad and loved it. If I had one complaint it’s that I don’t like shredded lettuce on my burgers or sandwiches but it’s a personal thing.

Delicious food, fair prices, clean restaurant, and excellent service—and Skip is a true pillar of the local community. If you enjoy classic American fare like burgers, crisscut fries, and creative, flavorful twists, you’ve got to support this fantastic local gem. The BOM sliders were absolutely amazing.

The hospitality and service is one of a kind. Truly one of the best places to go. Their burgers are cooked fresh and come out perfect every time! I love the waffle fries that get served. When I'm in the mood for a good burger this is the place I will go to! The owner gets to really know you and I love that aspect about this restaurant it is a gem. Everyone here is friendly even other customers that frequent this establishment. 100% would recommend!

After a bike ride from Discovery Park, my cousin and I stopped at Skip’s with big appetites, and we were in for a treat. The customer service was incredible. Right at the counter, they pull out a deck of cards and give you a shot at picking a Joker for a free meal, such a unique, creative touch that makes you want to come back. Skip himself came out to the dining area, refilled our sodas multiple times (even though there’s a self-serve fountain), introduced himself, chatted with us, and on our way out, his son held the door open for us. It felt like stepping into a 1950s–60s burger joint where you’re treated like family, and this was our first visit! The burgers? Absolutely top-notch! Quality meat, perfectly presented, and honestly looked even better than the pictures, how often does that happen? This was hands-down the best burger joint and one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Skip and his family have earned us as return customers, and I hope visiting becomes a regular tradition. 10/10.
